“There’s no one size fits all solution to the housing crisis. So we’re tailoring one for the North.”
That’s the bold claim being made by new campaign group, Homes for the North, an alliance of twenty large Northern Housing associations who have come together to show that there’s strength in numbers.
Homes for the North collectively provide homes for nearly one million people. This equates to 1 in 3 of all social rented homes in the North of England. Despite having plans to build 16,000 more homes over the next three years, Homes for the North wants to do more.
They will work with a wide range of organisations to help raise public awareness of housing policy challenges and solutions, commission research and call on a wealth of experience to inform regional and national policy makers on creating the conditions for more and better homes.
Housing Minister, Brandon Lewis, will speak at the Parliamentary launch of Homes for the North on January 28th.
